Tauranga City Council administers a wide range of projects throughout the city.
Most projects develop from Council strategies or Activity Plans as a way of trying to achieve agreed community outcomes. These projects are included in Council’s Long Term Plan (LTP) which looks up to ten years ahead and has detail for the first three years.
Long Term Plan
Each year Tauranga City Council goes through the Annual Plan process to set the budgets for the coming year, fitting within the guidelines of the current LTP. Projects that make it into the Annual Plan are consulted on with the public, before the Elected Members make the final decisions on which projects are put in action, which projects are deferred and which are abandoned.
Some projects are undertaken by Council staff themselves, but many are managed on behalf of Council by contractors. The following are examples of some current Council projects:
Access to Water
City Centre Spatial Framework
Civic Space Options
Greerton Library Redevelopment
Mauao Reserve Management Plan Review
Smith Farms Land Review
Tauranga Harbour Marine Precinct
