Mobile homes are a popular form of tourist accommodation and a growing recreational activity. In Tauranga, we have identified areas where mobile homes can park free of charge that won’t compromise the use of public places or significantly impact on environmental values.
You are not allowed to park your mobile home in any public places in Tauranga other than campgrounds and the areas outlined below:

Restrictions on mobile home use
- Mobile homes are permitted to stay for a maximum of two consecutive nights per calendar month in any one location.
- A maximum number of three mobile homes will be permitted in any one location on any one night. Eligibility to stay in any permitted location is determined by ranking in order of time of arrival.
- Mobile homes are only permitted to park within existing defined carparking areas.
- Mobile homes must be legally parked at all times.
- A certified self containment sticker must be displayed on the front windscreen of the mobile home.
Mobile home users are required to comply with any request to move on made by a Council enforcement officer at the total discretion of the enforcement officer. When exercising discretion the enforcement officer may have regard to, but is not limited by, complaints received, safety, nuisance, harm or compliance with the policy.
