Settling In - Tauranga City and the Western Bay of Plenty District Migrant Community Social Services Report - April 2010
"Tauranga City is one of the fastest growing cities in New Zealand and our population has doubled in the past 20 years. The city is projected to continue this rapid growth and by 2051 the population will be double what it is today. Of course there are a number of reasons for this growth, and the attraction of the city to migrants is one of these reasons.
Each year we welcome about 350 new citizens through the citizenship ceremonies where migrants choose to become New Zealand citizens and make a formal commitment to this country. Of course, there are also large numbers of migrants who have been here a long time, or who have just arrived and are beginning their life in Tauranga with all the challenges that brings."
