Porches and verandas

A porch or veranda is a flat platform that runs alongside a house, usually with a roof. They are typically elevated from the ground and made of timber. Answer the questions below and we’ll let you know whether you can go ahead without a building consent.

Porches and verandas are very similar to decks, which typically don’t have roofing. If you want to build a deck instead, see our decks and platforms questionnaire.
