Tauranga City Council’s Resource Wise Community Fund is about helping our community to minimise waste to landfill and Council to achieve the actions set out in the Waste Management and Minimisation Plan (WMMP). It is an annual contestable fund of $50,000.
Our 2018 grant round closed on Thursday, 5 July. The next funding round will open in April/May 2019. Applicants will be advised of the outcome within two weeks of the assessment panel meeting.
The fund aims to empower communities to:
- reduce waste sent to landfill, including organic materials, construction and demolition materials, and paper and cardboard
- support a hierarchy of waste principles: avoid, reuse, recycle, recovery – with disposal only as a last resort
- lobby manufacturers and government to take responsibility for where their products will ultimately end up
- support our waste minimisation programmes.
Grants range from $1500 to $20,000 from a pool of $50,000.
