Bylaws and policies

Bylaws and policies are key documents agreed to by Council about how the city runs.

Bylaws are special laws that apply in the Tauranga area only. They help Council make sure the city runs smoothly. Examples of activities controlled under bylaws include dog management and alcohol-free areas in public places.

Policies support the decision making of Council, and ensure that the vision, mission and strategic direction of Council is consistently implemented.
