Tauranga City Council is seeking feedback from the community on a possible coastal pathway connecting Memorial Park and the City Centre via The Strand.
The proposed pathway has been identified as a key connection in city centre strategies and walking and cycling plans. Benefits include providing a safe and flat walking and cycling connection and providing the ability to access and celebrate the water’s edge.
The proposed pathway was considered in 2007 as part of the Southern Pipeline project but was not progressed further. More recently, Council received submissions to its Long Term Plan and Annual Plan that were both for and against reconsidering the proposal.
Council now wants to understand the range of views our community have on the proposed pathway and identify issues or opportunities that may need to be considered if it was to progress to the next stage of concept design. You can provide feedback at the community open days listed below or visit the Have Your Say section of the Tauranga City Council website which includes an online submission form.
