Planning on developing land within this area?
There is a transition period that applies to the properties located within these areas. Once the land is transferred into Tauranga City Council jurisdiction the regulatory requirements of Tauranga City Council do not apply immediately.
If your property has recently transferred from the Western Bay of Plenty District Council area to Tauranga City Council you need to take a look at the Western Bay of Plenty District Council’s policies and bylaws as they still apply to your property. Click to view these policies and bylaws. If you have any questions please call our Policy Team on 07 577 7000.
Please contact Tauranga City Council for any enquiries relating to your land. The following information identifies what regulatory requirements apply to your site.
Resource Consents
Until such a time as these areas have been rezoned the Western bay of Plenty District Plan still applies, however, all correspondence and processing of an application is the responsibility of Tauranga City Council.

Renewals for licences (alcohol/food) will be dealt with by Tauranga City Council teams once the transfer of land has been formalised. It is suggested that if you hold such a licence, you make contact with the appropriate team to ensure we have your licence details and can assist with renewals when appropriate.
If you own a dog, your existing registration fee will continue until 30 June 2021. From 1 July 2021 (when registrations are due), Tauranga City Council’s dog registration fees will apply.
