Consultation on a single Acquisitions and Disposals Policy to ensure a consistent and transparent approach to buying, selling, leasing or transferring of council property is closing soon. Council is reviewing its approach to streamline the process and to deliver the best value to ratepayers when acquiring and disposing of property.
Consultation closes on Thursday, 15 April – have your say today at www.tauranga.govt.nz/ADP.
Council buys, sells, leases or transfers property for many reasons. These include public works such as roads and other infrastructure, greenspace or recreational purposes, and managing land identified for future public use.
The buying and selling of property by council is called acquisition and disposal. There are currently three policies that set out how council manages this. The opportunity to streamline this to one single policy and to offer mana whenua a right of first refusal (RFR) on some properties sold by council was identified as part of council’s regular review process.
Information on the draft policy is available at www.tauranga.govt.nz/ADP along with an online submission form. Paper copies are available at the customer service centre at 91 Willow Street and in libraries. The next community drop in takes place on Thursday, 15 April, 5.30pm – 7.30pm at Hungahungatoroa Club, 16F Hungahungatoroa Road, Matapihi.
