Council resumes services and reopens facilities under Alert Level 2

At Alert Level 2 (from 11.59pm 7 September 2021), council will be resuming most services and reopening public facilities, but with additional safety procedures in place.

Under Alert Level 2, residents should be mindful to adhere to three key changes.

  • Face coverings are mandatory in more places and residents should be prepared to wear a mask inside all public indoor facilities e.g. all libraries and council’s customer service centre.
  • Residents should also expect new procedures in place at facilities. This is to ensure we can closely manage the number of people in our indoor spaces and ensure two-metre physical distancing.
  • Contact tracing is mandatory in most facilities. Keep track of where you have been. Use the NZ COVID Tracer app if you can.

Tauranga City Council General Manager of Community Services, Gareth Wallis said, Alert Level 2 is a huge step forward and a big relief for families and businesses.

“There’s a few key changes people need to follow to keep each other safe. We thank everyone for recognising how important these changes are. Please bear in mind we’re all adapting to a new way of doing things as we resume services and reopen facilities that were closed under Alert Level 3.”
