Tauranga City Council is seeking to appoint an independent panel to assess applications to the Environmental Mitigation and Enhancement Fund (EMEF) and make recommendations to the Wastewater Management Review Committee (WWMRC) regarding eligible projects. Council is currently seeking expressions of interest from those with the required expertise to become panel members.

A condition of TCC’s wastewater discharge consent (RC62878) requires council to establish an Environmental Mitigation and Enhancement Fund.
Initiatives can include (but are not limited to) monitoring the cultural effects and involvement of Tangata Whenua in sampling, testing and monitoring and research into issues relevant to water quality and ecological issues.

Applications will open Tuesday, 5 January 2021 and close at 5pm Wednesday, 31 March 2021.
All applications will be assessed by an independent panel who will make recommendations to the Wastewater Management Review Committee (WWMRC). The WWMRC will make their final decisions on which (if any) applications are to be fundedfor the 2021/22 financial year at the Wastewater Management Review Committee meeting in May.
