We are planning to build a sustainable community in Te Tumu around a new town centre and employment precincts.
The Wairakei/Te Tumu Town Centre is planned to be located on the boundary of the Wairakei and Te Tumu urban growth areas. It will be the main retail and community area for the estimated 30,000 people who will live, learn, work and play in the Te Tumu and Wairakei areas once they’re fully developed.
We have worked with the key landowners to develop a framework plan to guide the development of this town centre and the surrounding areas.
This plan shows the infrastructure required to support the town centre and employment precincts, including a town square, open space, transport and community facilities. The plan below shows the location of, and indicative land uses within the town centre and employment precincts.

The employment precincts will provide wider employment and non-retail business opportunities to Papamoa East. Planning and development of this new centre is an important response to ongoing population growth within the sub-region.
