Tauranga City Council invites tenders for this contract.
Tauranga's beaches provide for a variety of activities including boating, surfing, lifesaving competitions and passive recreation such as sunbathing, picnicking, reading, strolling, jogging and playing ball games. During summer large crowds of tourists use the beaches day and night.
This high usage necessitates Tauranga beaches be maintained free of debris to ensure a safe, sanitary and aesthetically pleasing environment. This will be achieved by meeting the specifications of the Coastal Beach Grooming contract, and the objectives of the Coastal Reserves Management Plan with regard to Coast Care.
The aim is to keep beaches groomed to a level that ensures identified areas are free of designated debris.
The work shall include the supply of all machinery and labour necessary to successfully groom Tauranga's beaches. The identified areas that are to be mechanically groomed are Papamoa Domain, Omanu, Tay St, Main Beach and Pilot Bay.
