Upcoming Opportunity: TC63/18 Mauao Base Track Construction

Mauao ("the Mount") is an iconic tourist destination which is walked by over 1,000,000 people per year. In April 2017, a series of significant storm events caused a large slip on the base track requiring a temporary track to be provided. A permanent solution is required, and a preferred alignment has been identified which would see a 250m section of the track realigned to avoid failure-prone slopes.

The proposed works are in, or adjacent to, the coastal marine area and the site has high cultural, environmental and archaeological significance.

A highly capable supplier is required to complete the construction of the realigned track is required. The works will comprise a combination of rock revetment and piled boardwalk within a site subject to significant access, archaeological and environmental challenges.

The successful supplier will demonstrate the relevant experience, skills and resources their organisation possesses relative to the scope of works as well as demonstrating their ability to undertake the work safely from a human and environmental perspective.

Tauranga City Council will undertake a two stage process to select a supplier to deliver the works, a call for registrations of interest (ROI) is planned to be released in late May 2018. Following the ROI 2-3 suppliers will be selected to receive a request for tender (RFT).
We will be working to a relatively tight ROI timeframe of 3 weeks from release to closing. Please be prepared to respond to this exciting opportunity. We will want to know about your relevant experience and skills in relation to challenging work in the marine and coastal environment along with your health and safety systems and capacity to complete the works.

The ROI will be published on www.tenderlink.com/tauranga
