Tauranga City Council receives draft Annual Plan update

Elected Members yesterday considered a further update to Tauranga City Council’s draft Annual Plan for 2019/20.

The Plan proposes an average residential rates increase to 2% above inflation – a total of 3.9%, plus 0.2% for kerbside collection.

This is significantly lower than the 7.5% proposed in the council’s Long Term Plan 2018-28.  An updated inflation forecast means that it is slightly higher than the 3.7% figure presented to Council at a previous update on December 19.

Most aspects of the draft Annual Plan follow the 2018-28 Long Term Plan, which means they have already been through a formal consultation process.

However, the latest revisions to Council’s capital programme show that financials will be under significant pressure in later years. We will be seeking community feedback in March and April on key issues following adoption of the draft Annual Plan and consultation document.
