Closure of Grace Road exit onto 15th Avenue

Tauranga City Council has reached an important milestone in the 15th Avenue Improvements project with the permanent closure of the city side exit of Grace Road onto 15th Avenue. A concrete island has been poured to stop vehicles from exiting Grace Road onto 15th Avenue and to stop 15th Avenue traffic from turning right into Grace Road. There is now only left turn access into Grace Road from 15th Avenue.

To highlight the change, ‘no exit’ signs have been placed at the 14th Avenue entry to Grace Road. All motorists must use Burrows Street or Fraser Street to access 15th Avenue from this side of town.

The changes at the Grace Road intersection will contribute to improving the level of service for people travelling along 15th Avenue towards Maungatapu/Welcome Bay in the afternoon peak.
