Whakamōhiotanga
We’re beginning seismic strengthening work at the Spring Street parking building from next week. This is precautionary work to reduce the risk to users and the extent of damage that a significant earthquake could cause.
Works will begin on the lower levels and progress upward throughout the building. The Durham Street entrance will be closed for a short period while work takes place.
The parking building will remain operational during the works but will have reduced number of parking spaces available. Care Park will relocate parking leaseholders when their leased park becomes unavailable. Casual parking spaces will be available at the nearby Elizabeth Street parking building if the Spring Street parking building is at capacity.
Work to strengthen the draw bridge that connects the parking building and 29 Grey Street is expected to take place in late 2022.
It’s expected all works will be complete by mid-2023.
Please take care when driving or walking around work sites. There will be periods of noise at times, as well as vibration. Dust control measures will be in place. We recommend people keep their car windows up when in the parking building.
We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience while work is also undertaken on the relocation of the Willow Street bus interchange and demolition of Tauranga City Council’s adjoining building.
