Council resolved to sell its elder housing portfolio on 24 June 2021. The portfolio comprises of nine villages. Kainga Ora – Homes and Communities are acquiring seven of the elder housing villages. The remaining two villages, located on Hinau Street and Pitau Road, are to be sold for private redevelopment.
Both the Hinau Street and Pitau Road villages have obligations under Section 40 of the Public Works Act. Council is searching for a number of successors to former owners of the Pitau Road village to progress the matter. Please refer to the public notice (below) for further information on the former owners and successors we are searching for.
