A candidate information evening is being held at Te Whetū o Te Rangi Marae for anyone wanting more details about standing for the vacant Te Awanui Ward seat. Our Mayor and Councillors, the current Mauao Constituency Māori ward representative from Bay of Plenty Regional Council, the Chair of Te Rangapū Mana Whenua o Tauranga Moana and the Electoral Officer and will be there to share their experiences and answer any questions you may have.

Where: Te Whetū o Te Rangi Marae, 612 Welcome Bay Road

There is no need to RSVP for the information evening but if you have any questions about it, please email our deputy electoral officer, Clare Sullivan, at election@tauranga.govt.nz

The vacancy has arisen from the recent resignation of Mikaere Sydney, due to ill-health. Council calls for nominations to fill this vacancy.

A base description of the role of a councillor is available in the handbook, along with general information about candidate eligibility, campaigning requirements, election offences etc. A copy of that handbook is available under the 'Information for candidates' section below
