Durham Street project update - Tuesday, 30 April 2019

Durham Street

Excavation of the rain gardens by the parking building began last week.

Some unexpected extra work is underway replacing a sewer manhole near Beaurepaires. This will take 3 - 4 days to complete.

There will be more concrete pours on the west side footpath this week. The concrete pours on the roadway have been delayed until the sewer manhole work is complete. However, the concrete carparking areas from FENZ toward the Rock Shop will get underway.

Kerbing from Smiths Cycles to Rock shop will be installed this week.

Spring Street and Durham Street Intersections

All footpath work on the west side of the Spring Street intersection has been completed with the last of the asphalt footpath laid last week. The area outside WINZ is now clear of plastic barriers. The Intersection will remain closed to Spring Street traffic until the pedestrian area around the parking building corner is complete. This will allow us to move pedestrians back onto the footpath area rather than through the middle of the roadway. Below is an updated pedestrian plan at the Intersection.

Durham Lane

The sealing of the access lane from University of Waikato to Cameron Road is planned for this week. Asphalting the surface will then follow.

The last section of Durham Lane, between the University and Spring Street, will get underway in one week's time. This involves lowering the lane by about one metre near the Focus on Property carpark to improve visibility on the lane. This access will be closed for several weeks in order to complete this work.
