This upcoming project will see the upgrade/enhancement of landscaping along the Wairakei Stream Corridor from Pacific View Rd to the Te Tumu boundary, including Taylor Reserve. The project recognises the heritage value and cultural significance that the area has for Tangata Whenua. This project will provide the protection and enhancement of the ecological and cultural values, including the planting of an estimated 650,000 indigenous plants in the stream corridor. There will be earthworks for the redesign of the stream corridor, and new or improved cycle/walkways.
It is intended that the project will be staged across a number of years to deliver the desired outcomes.
Tauranga City Council intend to release the RFT for the works in late July at www.tenderlink.com/tauranga, with commencement of works in September/November.
