Debris assistance

Debris Assistance

Council offers debris assistance for notable trees or trees that are located on public land if certain requirements are meet.

Please check that you meet the criteria for debris assistance below. Alternatively, you can review the Vegetation and Tree Management Policy, section 5.8.

Criteria for debris assistance:

  • the applicant is physically and financially (as measured by receipt of Rates Rebate under the Rates Rebate Scheme) unable to maintain the property which is being affected by debris from a notable tree or a tree located on public land
  • you are the owner-occupier of the residence effected by the tree debris
  • Or where there are exceptional circumstances.

If you believe that you meet the criteria or have any questions about the approval process, email us at info@tauranga.govt.nz or call us on 07 577 7000 and ask to speak to an Urban Forest Advisor. Alternatively, send your application to the Tauranga City Council Urban Forest Team:

Once received, we will confirm whether your application has been accepted within two weeks.
