Work on the Cameron Road wastewater upgrade resumed on September 1 under Alert Level 3.
Stage one of the wastewater upgrade will continue with the Cameron Road Joint Venture replacing the main sewer pipe running along Cameron Road, from Harington Street to Elizabeth Street, as well as connecting across Cameron Road to businesses and down some side streets.
The current temporary traffic management will remain in place, with the eastern side of Cameron Road closed between McLean Street and Wharf Street. For the next week, the western side (northbound traffic) of Cameron Road, will also be closed to through traffic from Harrington Street to Elizabeth Street between 7am-5pm. Access for residents and businesses on the western side of Cameron Road will be via Wharf Street or Spring Street.
Investigation works on the second stage of the wastewater upgrade, between Elizabeth Street and Sixth Avenue, also started on September 1. This work will be completed overnight between 6pm and 6am and is expected to take five nights. This work is non-invasive and involves contractors pushing CCTV cameras through current wastewater pipes.
It is expected stage one of the wastewater upgrade will take three months to complete. Visit Futureproofing Cameron Road for more information on this project.
