After a rather rough week in Tauranga and the rest of Aotearoa, Council is pleased to share a few events and activities that are going ahead this weekend for our community to enjoy. 
Waitangi Day 
The Tauranga Moana Waitangi Day Dawn Service at Hopukiore (Mount Drury Reserve) has been cancelled due to poor weather expected over the weekend. 
However, the community can still tune into the service through a live broadcast on Moana Radio, 98.2FM and 1440AM, from 6.30am on Monday, 6 February. The service will also be livestreamed through Council channels. Keep an eye on the Facebook event page for updates. 
Tauranga Moana Waitangi Day Festival is still taking place this Monday, 6 February. Visit The Historic Village to celebrate, acknowledge and pay respect to what this day means and the unity we seek moving forward. It is a free event full of live music, entertainment, workshops, laughter, and much aroha.
Music 
On Saturday, 4 February the talented singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Camila Lenhart will be playing on Wharf Street from 1 – 4pm. Grab a bite to eat at our tasty local restaurants and listen to some great live tunes. 
Head to Mount Hot Pools on Sunday, 5 February at 7pm to enjoy live music at the world’s only hot ocean water complex.
Sport 
The Volleyball NZ Secondary Schools Beach Volleyball Championships are taking place on Mount Maunganui Main Beach on Saturday, 4 February and Sunday, 5 February. Pop in and see some of the best young talent from our secondary schools across the country.
Planes 
The Classic Flyers open day is celebrating 18 years of operation this weekend.  This is the perfect day out if you and the whānau have cabin fever, with face painting, fire truck rides and aircraft rides. Be there from 10am on Saturday, 4 February.
Food  
Tauranga Farmers Market is celebrating 20 years of deliciousness this Saturday, 4 February. From 8.30am enjoy stallholder fun, birthday cake and spot prizes! 
All of your favourite food trucks are still heading to Matua this Sunday, 5 February for Dinner in the Park. Enjoy delicious street food, live music and fresh brews.
