Closures around Tauranga

Ōropi Grove Mountain Bike Park - The mountain bike park is closed following flooding from the March 26 and 27 weather event. Damage to the tracks needs to be assessed before the park can be safely used again. More information on the park.

Greerton Marist rugby grounds - Flooding at the grounds has now cleared but the playing surfaces are waterlogged. Please keep off the grounds while they fully dry out, to avoid further damage.

Reopened parks and reserves

Several parks and reserves have reopened following the weather event including Hopukiore/Mount Drury, McLaren Falls Park and Te Rere o Ōmanawa/ Ōmanawa Falls, Waikareao Estuary Walkway (Daisy Hardwick Walkway), Puketoromiro Pā in Kōpūrererua Valley, the Novella Place slip repairs area and the walkway on the estuary side off Seventh Avenue.

Bay of Plenty Regional Council has advised parts of Pāpāmoa Hills Cultural Heritage Regional Park will reopen on Friday, 3 April. This includes the Pūraho Track (to/from far Poplar Lane carpark to the trig/summit), Karangaumu Track via alternative track (to/from main Poplar Lane carpark), and Summerhills Track (to/from Summerhill Recreation Farm carpark on Reid Road to trig/summit).
