Additional security measures

Dead animals

If you come across a dead animal in Tauranga, you can contact the following places to arrange disposal.

Public places or roads:

  • In a public place such as a road or reserve, contact Tauranga City Council on 07 577 7000.
  • On a state highway, contact NZTA on 0800 44 44 49.

On the beach:

  • For sea animals anywhere on a beach, contact the Department of Conservation Tauranga on 0800 275 362.
  • For land animals below the high tide mark (on the sand that gets wet), contact the Bay of Plenty Regional Council's pollution hotline on 0800 884 883.
  • For land animals above the high tide mark (above the sand that gets wet and on the dunes or beach grass), contact Tauranga City Council on 07 577 7000.
