Tauranga City Council is reviewing the Street Use and Public Places Bylaw, which sets the rules for how our streets, footpaths, parks, and reserves are used.

These places are where we connect, relax and enjoy the outdoors. The bylaw helps keep them safe, accessible, and enjoyable for everyone.

Consultation is now open, and we'd love your feedback on the proposed updates, including:

• The area of the footpath that must be kept clear for pedestrians.
• Updating the definition of a mobile shop to include services.
• Allowing all businesses to use up to 1.5 square metres of footpath space outside their premises for street dining furniture, commercial displays, or a combination of both (any additional space will require approval)
• Setting a limit on the number of real estate signs that can be displayed on Council land and allowing directional real estate signs.
