Oropi Road, south of SH29, has been reduced to one lane between Cheyne Road and Oropi Stream Bridge due to a sinkhole reopening. 
 
The sinkhole which first opened up 31 July 2019 had temporarily been fixed. However, is believed the recent rain, combined with increased streamflow and the high tide has caused the temporary repair to partially erode.

Traffic management is currently directing traffic, with a start/stop system in place to allow vehicles to travel in both directions. We advise morning commuters to take care and to leave early to allow for potential delays.

Geotechnical engineers will assess the site tomorrow (Thursday, 5 September) and we will provide updates when available.
