Get in quick to visit the Oropi water treatment plant

Tauranga’s water treatment plants will open their doors on 27 and 28 September for a behind the scenes look at how our city water is processed, from source to sea.

Tours at Chapel Street Wastewater Plant are now fully booked, but people can still register for Tauranga City Council’s Oropi water treatment plant open days, on next  Friday and Saturday.

The tour will shed light at how your drinking water is treated and turned into Aa grade quality water.

There are still openings for the tours that will be held from 9am to 12.15pm on Friday 27 September and 10.30am to 12.15pm on Saturday 28 September, and will take around one-and-a-quarter hours.

Participants need to be able to climb stairs, deal with heights and some uneven surfaces. The tour is not suitable for prams, wheelchairs or mobility scooters.

Anyone interested will also need to wear appropriate clothing and closed, flat shoes (no high heels or jandals) – or risk not being allowed to join the tour.

Children over the age of eight are welcome, when accompanied by an adult.

For health reasons, if you’ve had vomiting or diarrhea in the three days before the tour, you will be unable to attend the Oropi water treatment plant open day tours.
