On Tuesday, Tauranga City Council announced the appointment of former High Court Judge, the Honourable Paul Heath QC, to undertake a thorough investigation into its role in the Bella Vista buildings on Lakes Boulevard and Aneta Way.
We have had a number of LGOIMA requests for the Terms of Reference.
Below are the specific sections of the Letter of Engagement with Mr Heath QC, that relate to the scope of investigation and the report. This have been screen shot directly from the Letter of Engagement. This includes the scope of the investigation, which ‘without limiting the matters he is being asked to focus primarily on matters which have a causal connection with the defects which have been reported in the Bella Vista properties and/or the reasons why dangerous or affected building notices were issued’.
Mr Heath QC has started his investigation and we will be providing him with full access to relevant Council records and staff as required. As this work is now underway, we will not be able to comment on any matters that are within the scope of the investigation until it is complete.
