Wastewater overflow notifications

Wastewater overflows pose a serious risk to public health and our environment and need to be fixed immediately.

Most wastewater blockages (and subsequent overflows) occur when people flush things down their toilets or sinks that they shouldn’t like wet wipes, fats and cooking oils. Wastewater overflows can also occur when stormwater enters the wrong pipes during heavy rain due to faulty gully traps or damaged infrastructure.

If a wastewater overflow has occurred, please notify us.

Annual water mains scouring

Event date: 8/09/2025 - 19/09/2025 Export event

From Monday, 8th September 2025, for a period of two weeks, Downer will be undertaking the Annual Water Mains Scouring Program (flushing) in the following areas:

  • Pyes Pa
  • The Lakes Residential
  • The Lakes Industrial
  • Welcome Bay
  • Ohauiti
  • Hairini
  • Maungatapu

This process is part of our standard maintenance programme to ensure pipes are clean and water flows as intended. Scouring may cause a temporary discolouration of your water. Please run an outside tap for 5-10 minutes until the water clears.
