Sustainability is about meeting the needs of people living today without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.
It’s about protecting and enhancing our environmental, economic, social and cultural wellbeing.
Sustainability stocktake
To understand how sustainability is addressed by Council across the city, we commissioned a sustainability ‘stocktake’. This is a snapshot of the city’s current state and a starting point to determine the future sustainability outcomes we want for Tauranga.

Next steps
We are going to use the results of the sustainability stocktake as a starting point to develop a sustainability framework and action plan for the city. This will ensure that we prioritise our efforts to achieve improved sustainability across the city.
Once we have completed a draft, we will ask key stakeholders for feedback. If you would like to be involved please email sustainability@tauranga.govt.nz
