Fire hydrant access

Taking of water from TCC water network is a controlled activity under Taumata Arowai Drinking Water Quality Assurance Rules. Only authorised contractors are permitted to take water, and only from authorised hydrant filing stations located across the city.

Fire hydrant standpipe access

Rule number Requirement Assurance/monitoring Compliance period
D3.6 Access to a water network through use of a standpipe is not permitted except by Fire and Emergency New Zealand, other emergency services, the water supplier or authorised contractors to the water supplier where it is reasonably necessary to access the network for the operation of the drinking water supply. Tanker filling stations

Tanker operators use these stations to get access to bulk water supplies for their customers. When you have a signed contract with us, you can access the stations with a swipe key. This level of security ensures the safety of our water supply, and accurate billing of your water use.
