Music festivals are back as part of bumper season of summer events in Tauranga city.
A flurry of visitors will be heading to the Bay over the holiday period, with Bay Dreams and Juicy Fest set to rock Trustpower Baypark in the first week of the New Year.
Tuesday, 3 January will be a busy day for the city’s roads with around 11,000 people expected to attend Bay Dreams, and another 14,000 anticipated at Juicy Fest on Friday, 6 January.
Residents are advised to plan their travel in advance to allow for increased pressure on our transport networks and services.
To keep festival goers safe, and help manage traffic congestion, the following roads will be closed to all vehicles except festival buses:
Bay Dreams road closures - Tuesday, 3 January to Wednesday, 4 January:
- Truman Lane:
- Entry and exit from Truman Lane to SH29A will be closed.
- Truman Lane closed between Te Maunga interchange (SH29A) and Tip Lane, from 7am Tuesday 3 January to 7am Wednesday 4 January. (access to Te Maunga transfer station will be maintained during station opening hours, via Mangatawa Link Road/Sandhurst Rd)
- Truman Lane will be closed between Mangatawa Link Road and Tip Lane from 5.30pm Tuesday 3 January to 1am Wednesday 4 January. This closure will extend up to Sandhurst from 8pm Tuesday 3 January to 1am Wednesday 4 January (in-line with SH2 closure).
- SH2 will be closed between Te Maunga interchange (SH29A) and Sandhurst Drive, in both directions, from 8pm Tuesday 3 January to 1am Wednesday 4 January.
- Exeter Street – entry and exit from SH2 closed from 7pm Tuesday 3 January to 1am Wednesday 4 January.

Juicy Fest road closures - Friday, 6 January to Saturday, 7 January:
- Truman Lane:
- Entry and exit from Truman Lane to SH29A will be closed.
- Truman Lane closed between Te Maunga interchange (SH29A), from 7am Friday 6 January to 7am Saturday 7 January. (access to Te Maunga transfer station will be maintained during station opening hours, via Mangatawa Link Road/Sandhurst Rd)
- Truman Lane will be closed between Mangatawa Link Road and Tip Lane from 5.30pm Friday 6 January to 7am Saturday 7 January. This closure will extend up to Sandhurst from 8pm Friday 6 January to 1am Saturday 7 January (in-line with SH2 closure).
- SH2 will be closed between Te Maunga interchange (SH29A) and Sandhurst Drive, in both directions, from 8pm Friday 6 January to 1am Saturday 7 January.
- Exeter Street – entry and exit from SH2 closed from 7pm Friday 6 January to 1am Saturday 7 January.

Te Maunga Transfer Station will be open on Tuesday 3 January and Friday 6 January, but extra wait times are anticipated and we encourage people to avoid visiting on these days if possible. Residents who need to go to the station can access Truman Lane from Mangatawa Link Road at the end of Sandhurst Drive.
Motorists should avoid travelling at peak times or take an alternative route if possible. If you need to travel through these areas, drive carefully and expect delays. Digital sign boards will be posted around the perimeter of the events to guide motorists where to go.

A temporary pedestrian route will be in place throughout the day for people walking from Arataki to Baypark, and back when the events finish.
Ticketholders can utilise drop and ride bus services at Blake Park, Gordon Spratt Reserve and Durham Street in the city centre. There is no public parking at Trustpower Baypark.
