Before we get into this week’s update, we would like to inform our stakeholders that we are on track to be complete at the end of October, weather dependant.
This past week has been very productive with the following highlights:
- Lane one of the carpark entrance is complete and open.
- Lane two of the carpark entrance is now under construction.
- Backfilling of rain garden pits outside carpark building.
Work happening next week includes:
Spring Street and Durham Street intersections
- Traffic using Spring Street, from Cameron Road, will be able to turn left or right onto Durham Street. The other part of Spring Street remains closed until all intersection work is complete. Please refer to the plan below.
- Work will continue on the footpath cobblestone work on the carpark building corner.
- A small retaining wall continues to be built on the north east corner of the intersection.

- Concrete work will be laid next week on lane two.
- Our staff will be working between the entry and exit lanes through this phase of the work. Please be careful entering and exiting the carpark.
Outside Trustpower and Beaurepaires
- Cobblestone work continues outside Trustpower.
- Backfilling of rain gardens.
From Beaurepaires to Elizabeth Street
- Excavation of the footpath and roadway from Aspire to Elizabeth Street will continue next week.
- The cement treated base aggregate will continue on the footpath through to Elizabeth Street.
- Accesses to Aspire, Basestation and Folk Brewers has now changed. Access is now directly across to the completed path on the west side of Durham Street. There are directional signs around to help.
- Palazzo Kitchens, Guideline and Electrify NZ will change during the week as the footpath work progresses. Our staff on site are happy to assist if you are unsure.

The last piece of footpath (asphalt work) has been completed and the footpath is now fully open.

Durham Lane
The section from Durham Street to the Bongard Centre has been closed to local vehicles. There is a pedestrian detour in place past the University of Waikato. Local residents still have pedestrian access across the site. Excavation work has started. Work should take about three weeks.
Please be advised that this newsletter update will conclude at the end of the Durham Street and Durham Lane upgrade in October 2019.
