Tauranga is New Zealand’s fifth largest city and one of the fastest growing in the country.

Tauranga City Council today voted in favour of transferring ownership of 11 Mission Street to the Otamataha Trust, subject to a lease to the Elms Foundation.

A morning peak bus clearway, a new pedestrian crossing and a wider shared footpath have been built on Links Avenue in Arataki.

Council is proposing to remove the begging and rough sleeping provisions in the street use bylaw adopted last year, because it considers a bylaw is not the most appropriate way of addressing the perceived problem in relation to begging and rough sleeping in Tauranga.

It was with great excitement the students from Mount Maunganui Intermediate, local residents and council staff gathered on Thursday morning to officially open two upgraded alleyways in Arataki.
