What is a tiny house?
There is no definition of what a tiny house is, they tend to have the same fundamental features of a traditional house, but on a smaller scale. In general, they can be separated into two categories, those that are fixed to land, and those that are built on wheels. This can mean that a tiny house can be considered a building, a vehicle, or both a building and vehicle.
What are the rules when it comes to building a tiny house in Tauranga?
The rules that will apply to your tiny house depend on where you intend to locate it and how you intend to use it. There are three pieces of legislation that you need to consider when planning your tiny house:
