Recreation at The Lakes

There are more than 30 reserves and open spaces located throughout The Lakes which include playgrounds, a basketball court and pump track. 

Caslani Reserve

Caslani Reserve, also known as The Lakes Playground, is located on Caslani Lane opposite The Lakes shopping village. 

Walkways connect the playground to the nearby Koikoi Reserve and Matatu Reserve which provide open spaces for family picnics or to stop and enjoy the lakeside views. Swings and public toilets are located at Matau Reserve. 

The walkway extends to Lakeview Quay and runs parallel to Takitimu Drive to connect back to Caslani Reserve. 

What you’ll find at Caslani Reserve:

  • Playground
  • BBQ
  • Drinking fountain 
  • Tables and seating
  • Public toilets

Orangapani Reserve

Orangapani Reserve is located on Lakes Boulevard and has proven to be a popular play area for families throughout The Lakes and wider suburbs.  

A walkway begins at Orangapani Reserve and runs parallel to Takitimu Drive to connect to Caslani Reserve and The Lakes shopping village.

What you’ll find at Orangapani Reserve:

  • Playground
  • Basketball court (half court)
  • Pump track (suitable for bikes, scooters, rollerblades, skateboards)
  • Drinking fountain
