Tauranga has a sprinkler and irrigation system ban in place

In person, by phone or post

Bank cheques

Due to upcoming changes by our major banking partner ANZ we will no longer be able to accept bank cheques as a method of payment for rates. This change will affect all Tauranga City Council customers – the last day we can accept cheques is Friday, 28 May. For more information about your payment options please refer to the information below on this page.

In person

You can pay your rates by cash, Eftpos or credit card at the Tauranga City Council Customer Service Centre and if you have an invoice with a barcode you can pay by cash or Eftpos at participating NZ Post Shops.

Find your nearest post shop and check that bill payment is available there (look for “pay a bill” in available services).

Over the phone

You can pay your rates by Visa or Mastercard over the phone by calling our contact centre. Your rates invoice number is required for credit card payments and surcharge of 1.3% will apply.

By direct debit

You can setup a direct debit online and take the hassle out of receiving late payment penalties.

Internet banking

Making payments via internet banking means you can pay your bills from the comfort of your own home or out and about on your mobile phone. POLi internet banking – pay straight from your bank account, with no surcharge. Note: If you choose to pay by debit or credit card there is a surcharge of 1.3% payable.
