Tauranga Access Map takes the anxiety out of not knowing if a location or venue is accessible by providing information upfront, all in an easy-to-use digital map app.
Use the app to find accessibility information about:
- Playgrounds, reserves and other outdoor council spaces
- Mobility parking
- Council facilities
- Restaurants, cafes and other venues
- Public events
What is Tauranga Access Map?
Tauranga Access Map is an online map available in browser and as an app for smartphone, tablet and PC that highlights the accessible features of locations around Tauranga. The map includes council owned and managed locations, such as playgrounds, carparks, restrooms, beach mats, community halls and other facilities.
Each location includes a short description of the area, and images and details of the accessibility amenities so you can know before you go. Users can filter and select individual fields, such as mobility parking, accessible play equipment, or neurodiverse-friendly locations.
Local businesses can also be found on the map including their accessibility information, operating hours, and upcoming events.
How can I use Tauranga Access Map?
Tauranga Access Map is an app that can be downloaded and installed from the Tauranga Access Map install page. It can be used on smartphone, tablet, or PC, and is compatible with Android (with Chrome), on iOS (with Safari), on Windows (with Chrome or Edge) and macOS (with Chrome).
Is it free to download and use the app?
Yes, Tauranga Access Map is available to everyone and free to use.
How often is the map updated?
The map is updated regularly when upgrades are undertaken at council owned and managed locations, new locations are built, or businesses opt in to being included on the map. Icons on the map will reflect up-to-date information on availability and closures, e.g if a mobility parking space is not available due to roadworks, the icon will be reflected on the map as red.
Can I provide feedback via the app?
Yes, you can provide feedback on the app if a location status needs to be updated or if you have general feedback on locations or other accessibility ideas for the area.

To add your business location and accessibility information to Tauranga Access Map please visit the Access Maps Business Self Register webpage and use promo code TCCMAP to get started. Please note, only businesses within Tauranga City Council boundary can be included on the map.
