Te Ara Whānui is an educational tool designed to provide the perfect starting point on your haerenga (journey) into Te Ao Māori.

Featuring an interactive map of hapū, areas of interest, a customised pepeha builder, waiata, karakia, and more, the app unlocks the rich culture and heritage of Tauranga Moana.

Te Wiki o te Reo Māori 2023 – app training

From Monday – Wednesday during Te Wiki o te Reo Māori, a member of Council’s Takawaenga unit will be available at He Puna Manawa (Tauranga Library) to offer training and answer any questions about the app.

Session times

  • Monday 11 September, 11am – 1.30pm
  • Tuesday 12 September, 11am – 1.30pm
  • Wednesday 13 September, 1pm – 3pm
