Greg Brownless

Proven Leadership & Community Commitment

My principal place of residence is in the Tauranga City Council area.

My first term as Mayor has been much about addressing performance and leading real change. We have employed a new CEO and cut the Management Team from eleven to six.

Acknowledging mistakes is not a weakness, it's a strength, and rather than hiding problems I tell it like it is. I'm frugal in person and that applies to rates increases too.

Traffic issues affect everyone and I'm fighting for proper Government roading funding. We need better managed transport before opening up new housing areas. Keep Tauranga racecourse as green space, not choked with housing.

I champion ratepayer ownership of our water and completion of our new water scheme.

Leading by example, I have a proven long-time commitment to Tauranga.

No unachievable populist promises to get re-elected. I've unfinished business and in my second term will continue to focus on managing Council costs and efficiency while leading the completion of infrastructure.

Kelvin Clout

Let's Build a Better City. Together.

My principal place of residence is in the Tauranga City Council area. I am also standing for Councillor - At Large.

Thank you for the privilege of being your Deputy Mayor for six years. This has prepared me to now step up and lead this beautiful city of Tauranga, where Kathryn and I have been raising our family for thirty years.

Together we can make Tauranga Moana the envy of Aotearoa, for family, career, business, learning and lifestyle. I have clearly heard your voice and will lead with greater transparency, and accountability for councillors and staff. I will advocate strongly for our future success. My three core priorities are empowering communities, increasing supply and affordability of housing, and freeing up traffic.

You will have a Mayor who is financially astute and a careful spender, but with such a love for community and helping you reach your goals.

For the love of Tauranga, cast a positive vote for family and future. Vote Kelvin Clout for Mayor. See my policies at www.kelvinclout.co.nz

Your choice for your voice - Stop the waste

My principal place of residence is in the Tauranga City Council area. I am also standing for the Otumoetai-Pyes Pa Ward.

As your Mayor, I'll hit the ground running, with proven independent and responsible governance experience, focusing on integrity, consultation and democracy.

I support transparency in decision-making processes and meetings with community inclusion/consultation for all major planning processes. Unnecessary and wasteful expenditure causing unacceptable debt must stop. Projects need to be prioritized, essential and affordable.

Bureaucratic barriers to economic development must be minimised with ratepayers benefiting from growth. Our city needs to be developed to meet the needs of our community with greater cooperation between our neighbouring authorities and government.

It is essential that transport corridors are prioritized and planned to cope with growth, inclusive of all commuting options, park and ride facilities, walking and cycling off road where possible.

Tauranga has always been my home - I am passionate and committed to see change. Our best days are ahead.

This council needs fixing; vote for change

My principal place of residence is in the At Large area. I am also standing for Mayor.

I was born in Tauranga. I went to school here, I'm raising my four children here, I've seen this town grow and develop into a small city.

Tauranga is broken. Our roads are underfunded, our water supply is under pressure and our recycling/waste treatment is at breaking point. Spending is out of control and us ratepayers are expected to pay for this mismanagement.

This overspending must stop. Consultation with community must start. The council must be held accountable.

I am a competent parent, scientist and businessman and I will help bring into focus things that matter, roads, rates, water and waste. My skills developed running large teams in many countries have taught me that to win it takes all of the team to achieve the goal.

I need you to help me to fix Tauranga. Vote for change and I'll work hard to get it done.

Tena koe, Greetings to you, I am the great great grand daughter of 1st Maori King Tawhiao Potatau TeWheroWhero original founders of the Maori Treasury, Reserve Bank. Today, this treasury stolen from Bay of Plenty by Wellington Parliament has been abused by Rob Mulddon era national & labour party dirty lawyers & their low dollar decimal point accounting system. This brings me to survey investigate Tauranga Council debt $500 million, Rotorua $300 Million, Auckland $12 Billion. I report this white collared criminal overspending is not being policed by british laws, which should guard treasury spending. Therefore, a collapse of white supremacy arrogant media, courts, banks, is ahead. A Maori Government to lead our Independence, is inevitable! Full returns of Maori Lands, Treasury, Resources and the end of buckingham court Trafficking our Children is Justice delievered! Devalue Rich Pakeha, Prosecute LGNZ ownership of Councils -now on Probation! Tihei Mauri Ora!

Jos Nagels

Independent

My principal place of residence is in the Tauranga City Council area.

Jos4Mayor Benevolent & Visionary Governance Jos Nagels, Tauranga Resident since 1976, married to Pauline. A civil engineering career over 35 years encompassed roading, traffic, transportation, tunnelling/rail, stormwater, sewage, contract management and design/reports thus familiar with infrastructures. Since 2002 successfully established own business as a solar engineer.

As never before, a complete rethink is overdue rather than repeated uncoordinated scenarios of wasting millions on unsustainable overwhelmingly flawed polices.

Under knowledgeable leadership and most importantly for the greater public good, Tauranga can forge a unified, progressive long term integrated plan which simultaneously balances solutions to transportation, pollution, environmental, housing, CBD, climate change policy, etc.

Well planned passenger rail utilizing the existing rail corridor confers sustainability, efficiency, long term benefits to all and crucially can be done. Holistically, important issues including plastics, land, atmospheric degradation demand serious attention.

Visionary, Energetic, Motivated 71, commonsense, practical.

Vote Jos for unified mayoral leadership.

Tauranga Deserves Better Leadership

My principal place of residence is in the Tauranga City Council area.

Imagine Tauranga with a Mayor who is an Effective Leader, and who can offer Financially Savvy Management and Strong Regional Cooperation. A Proven and Experienced Leader.

Drawing on my experience in the private sector, government entities and the military, we will find solutions for Tauranga’s most pressing issues. I will work with the Chief Executive to transform Council into a responsive and trusted organisation that makes pragmatic decisions and delivers on promises.

My vision for Tauranga is a regionally, nationally and globally connected city. A bold, smart city that embraces partnerships, respects and connects our people through the generations, nurtures our environment with a focus on sustainability, and celebrates our leadership position as New Zealand’s epicentre for culture, innovation, entrepreneurship and investment.

I was raised and educated here, and it would be an honour to serve you as the next Mayor of Tauranga.

For Tauranga

My principal place of residence is in the Tauranga City Council area. I am also standing for Council -At Large.

A Councillor recently commented that voters should consider candidates' achievements outside Council. I retired at 41. I didn't inherit money, or marry it. Hard work, spending less than I earned, and prudent investing, are a proven recipe.

A proposal to increase rates 120% over ten years to transform Tauranga ($55million museum anyone?) resulted in my return to Council in 2018's by-election - the message being ratepayers rejected the transformation plan.

A leadership vacuum meant that, on election, I became de-facto leader of Team Ratepayer and the team delivered: imminent rate increases were halved, extravagant projects were cancelled or postponed, but much damage had been done (not all of which is yet public).

Council needs to pause, clean up its mess, focus on the basics, especially transport, and listen to ratepayers. If you elect me as Mayor, and elect a majority of like-minded Councillors, that is what your Council will do.

Ocean City

My principal place of residence is in the Tauranga City Council area. I am also standing for Mount Maunganui-Papamoa Ward.

Mount Maunganui to Papamoa is the jewel in the crown of Tauranga. Blessed mountain with beautiful sandy beaches and a spectacular inner harbour.

Issues that need addressing:

Port of Tauranga is good for the national interest but needs to reduce its detrimental environmental effects
Ballooning debt requires financial control

Underground cycle/pedestrian pathway Matapihi to Bayfair
Re-establish a police station at Mount/Papamoa

My wife Suzanne is a teacher. We have three children and two grandchildren.

I am currently in a governance role in the primary sector managing farming, fishing, forestry and investment. Positive Change & Integrity

My principal place of residence is in the At Large area.

As a former skilled employee of council, in 2015 I made a disclosure to council which identified the current culture issues under CEO Garry Poole. Noone listened. In my view Garry Poole was an absolute failure therefore I escalated matters to councillors. Council's response was to bankrupt and destroy me for speaking the truth.

There is an enormous amount of repair needed at city hall to pull Tauranga out of their current position. Many don't comprehend how deep the hole goes. As someone who sought accountability and was ignored, I KNOW the change needed.

My past employment at council allowed me to move around all areas of operation. I understand significantly more than most. I'm committed, from a top-level perspective, to INTEGRITY and TRANSPARENCY issues. Infrastructure will be my main focus to advance this city.

11MustGO

My principal place of residence is in the At Large area.

I've been a contractor and businessman for over 30 years and over these years, I have developed the skills and strengths necessary not only for private business endeavours, but those same and likewise essential qualities which an effective council member must possess. From vision, innovation and creativity to sustain a competitive edge in the marketplace; to leadership and supervision over personnel; and to insight and analysis necessary for profit and financial health, I will bring all these skills and strengths to the position. I am also an advocate to stop the bullying inside the Tauranga City Council organisation. I want to bring all those responsible for their criminal actions inside the organisation to face justice and hold them accountable to the full extent of the law. The financial blowouts and continued drive to increase rates is an area that will be my earliest attention for investigation. Rate increases must cease.

Perseverance, Passion, Determination

My principal place of residence is in the At Large area.

I was born in Tauranga and have lived here all my life. When I was 9, I lost my legs in a train accident near Baypark yet have achieved amazing successes as a businessman, surf lifesaver, author, pilot and athlete competing in the World and Paralympic Qualifying Games.

As a past Councillor, I was involved in 8 Committees, the new Marine Precinct, redevelopment of the Tauranga Waterfront and the Pilot Bay Boardwalk, all of which have come to fruition. I understand governance, management and the Local Government Act and am able to fulfill the Councillor role immediately.

Tauranga's staggering growth has brought challenges including housing, traffic congestion and more pressure on already stretched infrastructure. I want to ensure that these get immediate attention and urgent action.

I am known for my perseverance, passion and determination. I am committed and intend to make Tauranga the city that inspires New Zealand

Independent - Together Better

My principal place of residence is in the At Large area.

Been St John lifelink representative for few years working & helping in the community. I am a local here with my child and the Ex so it doesnt come more local than that. As a traffic STMS i have seen my share of accidents and fatalities on our roads and i have a plan to change that, but we have to work together to change it.

We have a chance to decide the future we want, with housing so expensive i want to examine more environmentally sustainable affordable housing, not the 5 bedroom monsters no one can afford, lets create a city where us locals can afford to live, in a city we all call home..together better.

PICK RICK - sensible and reasonable

My principal place of residence is in the At Large area.

Over the next 3 years, council plan to increase rates revenue by 41%. I successfully introduced the current rates cap and have consistently advocated for budgets that kept within it.

Council will collect $178m in rates this year. How it's spent is the problem. We need to change the focus away from the overlybureaucratic and back to fulfilling community needs we really value.

To address this, we need to elect sensible, like-minded people. At least six members are needed to achieve a voting majority at the council table.

Proof of this was when a like-minded candidate was elected last year, and we were then able to shave $4.5m off the planned rates rise.

If elected, my focus will then be on getting more value for your money by spending carefully and wisely.

Please choose candidates with common-sense and who understand the value of a dollar. Then we'll see positive change

Matthew Gill

Community First - Your Voice In Council

My principal place of residence is in the At Large area.

There are many things that need to change in Council.

We need a more transparent council with a healthier culture.

In order to do this, I believe we need to focus on the three C's: Community, Collaboration and Communication. As a family man and community-minded local business owner, my goal is simple. I want a better Tauranga.

My key priorities are improved traffic flow, road safety and ensuring sustainable growth of our city.

I am involved in leading local community groups and have initiated and created positive developments such as shade sails for the Caslani Reserve playground, an AED installation and Pyes Pa roading improvements.

If you want a councillor who is communicative, reliable and well connected, vote for me. I am committed to helping Tauranga transform into a vibrant, innovative city of the future.

My personal qualities of honesty, integrity and a social conscience have stood me in good stead, together with my ability to communicate with the community at all levels. I am not opposed to differing points of view and will retain an open mind so that people feel heard; that said, I will make decisions once I feel informed, so that the city can prosper. Solution-focused and a passionate local, I want to see Tauranga get back on the right path. Your Number 1 vote will give me that opportunity

A Collaborative Future

My principal place of residence is in the At Large area.

Bella Vista? Traffic congestion? Status quo? If we always do what we've always done, we will always get what we've always got.

Kia Ora, wider Tauranga Whanau. Do you believe it's time for a change? Perhaps you agree it's time for a fresh perspective? Tauranga city is growing and changing at an unprecedented rate and needs a dynamic, diverse and unified team of city leaders to match. However, leaders cannot lead well without listening to those they represent. Let your voice be heard, let's achieve a collaborative future. We've heard it said, If you want to go fast, go alone, if you want to go far, go together. This is true now more than ever. To put it another way, as I discovered when playing for the BOP Steamers, Team work makes the dream work. Business owner, Former Youthworker and BOP Steamer Caleb Hall for TCC.

A collaborative future.

Tauranga is at a crossroads. It is urgent Council addresses growing issues of congestion, sprawl, affordability and environment. We have an opportunity to shape a vibrant city, one that supports our health and well-being, while ensuring future generations thrive.

To make it happen, I will push hard for government and regional council to help deliver a multi-modal transport network to get us moving. I will advocate for plan changes to enable better housing choice, work together for far better engagement and communication, and be a champion for the environment.

I have a postgraduate in Sustainable Practice. I've been a business owner, entrepreneur, directed large events and I sit on two boards. I have advocated for the Arataki Underpass, Intercity train and cycle-ways.

As a practical problem solver who is not afraid to challenge the status quo, I will contribute to a more positive direction for our city.

Visionary Leadership For A Vibrant City

My principal place of residence is in the At Large area.

Kia ora! Community, civics, climate. Those are my 3Cs. I am passionate about facilitating community connection so Tauranga grows into a vibrant, thriving and diverse city. As a young candidate (for local government anyway!), a parent and a transgender person, I am well placed to represent the views of a diverse range of communities and individuals across Tauranga. This will increase engagement and representation in council processes. Climate change is our real challenge. We need strong, visionary leaders to prepare this city for an uncertain future. I am one of those leaders - I'm MBA qualified, and a former military officer, with good communication skills and a logical approach to strategy. Most importantly, I care. I care about our city, our environment and every person living it. Make sure you're registered to vote and then on October 12th, vote Suzi Paige #1! Ngä manaakitanga.

Lower Rates Better Services Real Results

My principal place of residence is in the At Large area.

I really have no ambition to be a counsellor, but I do want to represent the long suffering ratepayers.

I don't consider myself a leader, but I have a fierce loyalty to my region my city and its residents.

I don't measure my success financially, but by the love and respect of those who know me best, my children.

I am not well connected to the rich and famous but I have genuine relationships with working people who deal with everyday life, those who do the work and pay the bills.

I do not make glib promises, but I do have practical skills and solutions to address and resolve the many issues facing the residents of Tauranga.

I will commit to the goal of lower rates, better services and practical solutions.

John Robson

For the Ratepayer

My principal place of residence is in the At Large area. I am also standing for Mayor.

In 2018, voters rejected transforming Tauranga, and increasing rates 120%, returning me to Council. It worked: imminent rate increases halved, extravagant projects were cancelled or postponed, but much damage had been done.

Ratepayer trust in Council is low. Council needs to be honest and open with ratepayers - currently it isn't. The constant spin (lying by omission) must stop - and it will only stop when Councillors stop justifying it, and spending ratepayer money on lawyers to defend it.

I support limiting rate increases, 4-laning of key arterial roads (including SH2), and Tauranga running its own public transport system. I oppose extravagant museums, giving 11 Mission Street to Otamataha Trust and spending $20+million upgrading Elizabeth Street.

Council needs to pause, clean up its mess, focus on the basics, especially transport, and listen to ratepayers. If you agree, please vote in like-minded Councillors - without a majority, there are no guarantees.

Pare Taikato

Independent

My principal place of residence is in the At Large area.

Kia ora tätou, my name is Pare Taikato and I'm standing as an independent candidate at large for Tauranga. I'm inspired by the opportunity that this year's local body elections present to participate in the civic process and to contribute to creating real sustainable change co-designed by our community for the community. As our city continues to grow and becomes more diverse, we need elected civic leaders that truly reflect that diversity and who will play an active role in the responsible and sustainable guardianship and stewardship of our city and its resources. There are challenges ahead including the complexities of how our infrastructure, services and land usage can keep pace with the accelerated levels of continued growth and how do we as civic leaders and citizens collectively practice sustainability and remain accountable to our communities. A tick for me equals responsible stewardship informed by diversity and sustanability. parewhati@gmail.com

Broadcaster, Youth leadership programme facilitator & business owner I have spent the past 10 years developing my communication and leadership skills within my home town of Tauranga. I have recently completed the building of our family home in the community of Welcome Bay where my wife & I raise our 2 young boys. We need extensive planning for our rapid growth as a city. Explore solutions to better public transportation such as rail, ferry & bus. Endorsing thorough inspections for building consents & support affordable housing with a decrease in cost for first home buyers. Let's better Council communication with the community and allow our public to have an influence on decision making. Advocating historical and cultural awareness, being inclusive of all narratives, strengthening our collective identity within Tauranga. Champion environmental sustainability, keeping our green spaces green, our waterways clean, encouraging recycling over land-fill. Increase local economy, capitalise on tourism.

Governance with Heart

I believe an elected Councillor to be the representative voice of residents. Establishing an active public referenda policy for strategic planning would provide our city's people with choice.

With a background in the New Zealand Military, Health sector and Social Services, I am proud to have grown up in Tauranga and have lived here for most of my life.

I have worked overseas in various project management advisory roles in the Aid & Development sector. Working with a diverse range of people and cultures, I have gained further considerate, strong communication and organisational management skills.

I came 'home' to be closer to family and friends and re-connect with my Iwi. Now having raised our family, my husband and I are happy to have our Mokopuna grow up here too.

Join me in steering our city toward a progressive future.

Our city, our future, YOUR way.

It's time, time to take the trash out

My principal place of residence is in the Mount Maunganui-Papamoa Ward area.

The corruption of processes, misappropriation of laws and bullying evident within our Council, Govt Organisations and City, has and continue to destroy lives. Behaviors that cause undue pain, long term suffering and suicide among our victims.

Most disturbing, in my recent experience with our local govt, is the failure to acknowledge we have a problem. Perhaps, acquiring titles, is more rewarding than providing a safe and effective place to live, work and socialize in.

Vision: Our People, free of corruption. Mission: Speak the Truth, deliver the Whole Truth, providing Nothing but the Truth. Challenged: to Solve the Problems, at no additional cost to the Employer.

Effectively, The Employer is the Constituents, a team comprising of the Ratepayer, the Tax payer and rent payer. A thought, Salisbury Ave, once housed Mt Police. Now abandoned, govt owned land, perfect site for a multi level carpark, I reckon.

Positive Change For The Future

My principal place of residence is in the Mount Maunganui-Papamoa Ward area.

I am standing for positive changes for the future of Tauranga and especially for the Mount and Papamoa which deserve strong representation.

I will work hard to ensure good value for the rates we pay and provide a strong local voice in Council.

Tauranga is growing fast and we must work together to manage that growth and regain the livability and features that make this such an amazing place to live.

We must -
Establish and follow through on the priorities.
Recognise ratepayers are not a bottomless source of funding.
Stop doing the same old.
Plan full multimodal transport options.

My experience in Operations Management brings skills in prudent financial responsibility, project management, managing conflicting priorities and ensuring stakeholder's requirements are heard.

My family moved to the Mount in 1961 and I have called it home ever since, even when working elsewhere, and would be honoured to serve our community.

I AM the RIGHT choice!

My principal place of residence is in the Mount Maunganui-Papamoa Ward area.

I'm passionate about the people in our community, our precious environment and the future direction of Tauranga. I am a down to earth, highly skilled woman with a sensible and pragmatic approach. I believe strong leadership and great governance together with integrity will deliver what Tauranga needs.

I have a very strong and robust management background and I understand how important it is to engage effectively with the community and stakeholders to enable great results.

I am the General Manager for Kidz Need Dadz Bay of Plenty, a local Charitable Trust that provides support services to the community and dads who want to establish a relationship with their children. I have the skills, experience and integrity to be an effective advocate for the people of Tauranga City.

Vote Deborah Johnston, I AM the RIGHT choice for Tauranga.

Dawn Kiddie

Independent

My principal place of residence is in the Mount Maunganui-Papamoa Ward area.

I'm a dairy farmer's daughter from Eketahuna who now lives in the best city in NZ. I left University 25 years ago to move to the Tauranga area where my husband and I have raised our three beautiful children and run our respective businesses.

I started the Mount Ratepayer, Residents and Retailers Association to ensure a TCC voice for people in the Mt and Papamoa ward. I am committed to Mt and Papamoa retaining their unique qualities and attractions. This drives me to stand for Council, as does dissatisfaction with Council's out-of-control spending over the past few years.

My years in consulting and serving as a Justice of the Peace have taught me to listen and help people by being straight up and honest. Vote for Dawn Kiddie as someone who listens to your concerns and ensures communication and collaboration between our city is focused on change!

Financially responsible local leadership

My principal place of residence is in the Mount Maunganui-Papamoa Ward area

Thank you for giving me the privilege to serve as your local councillor. I'm asking for your support again so that I can continue to be a strong voice and advocate for the Mount and Papamoa over at Tauranga City Council.

I'm passionate about our beach lifestyle and determined we don't lose it. Council must focus on managing growth successfully.

As the cost of living rises, my vote on your behalf has been to keep rates capped close to inflation. Please support me by also voting for candidates that share this view.

Council shouldn't be distracted by non-essential spending when there's important infrastructure our city needs. I'm focussed on: delivering a new water plant to end water restrictions and provide New Zealand's best drinking water; innovative funding of new roads; and ensuring Council listens to residents better as I pride myself on listening to you. Time for New Leadership

My principal place of residence is in the Mount Maunganui-Papamoa Ward area.

I am a Marine Engineer, and have lived at the Mount since 1969.

As a long-standing resident and ratepayer, I know the financial pressure imposed on property owners to meet the ever increasing rating demands.

It's important that you choose the right candidate to represent your interests. You can re -elect the sitting Councillors, and continue to receive large annual rating increases, or opt for fresh faces.

As a retired Marine Engineer, I have hands-on experience in all the core services, such as waste water treatment, drinking water purification and delivery, electrical generation and supply, garbage management etc, required to maintain a City.

I believe the above, coupled with my maturity would make me an ideal Tauranga City Councillor.

If elected I will work hard on behalf of the residents, oppose rating increases exceeding the yearly inflation rate, and push for greater ratepayer input and approval in Council decision making.

Tauranga's been home since I was 10. It's a brilliant city, and we need to ensure it stays brilliant for future generations. I've been helping our homeless people as a volunteer for years.

Housing affordability is a complex issue, but we shouldn't shy away from tackling it. My background as a chartered professional engineer provides insight into the largest expenditure area of council: infrastructure. Currently I'm the Strategic Asset Manager for an infrastructure company with assets valued at $2 billion. I'm happily married with no children yet, so have time to invest in our community. I'll focus on affordable rates, intelligent infrastructure and a thriving community. Qualifications: BE(Hons), MEMgt(Hons), CPEng, and currently working towards Master of Professional Accounting and Finance.

More Democracy Less Bureaucracy

My principal place of residence is in the Otumoetai-Pyes Pa Ward area.

I have been your Ward Councillor twice. 2010-13, 2016-19. Three years ago, in keeping with my promise to work on congestion in our city, I began speaking about the failure to complete vital roading projects planned 20 years ago. Progress has been frustratingly slow, (too much bureaucracy!) but we are now finally taking steps with BOPRC toward an integrated plan that will work for motorists, provision of better public transport for school children, commuters and seniors, plus delivery of the safe cycle network this growing city needs.

I also promised Council would consult through rates invoices. A successful experiment that should have been repeated more often so your voice is heard on issues like pending changes to rubbish collection, street trees, and city plan changes. More Democracy! Look at www.baldock.nz/electionpromises Council needs experienced leadership that doesn't overlook current concerns while also ensuring a prosperous, vibrant and sustainable future for Tauranga!

Wholeheartedly at your service

My principal place of residence is in the Otumoetai-Pyes Pa Ward area.

Wholeheartedly at your service for the wellbeing of the Community and the City.

I'm a Registered Financial Adviser, with governance and extensive financial experience.

I envision Tauranga transformed into a world class Tourist destination, utilising Public/Private partnerships to create income producing projects which could assist in the reduction of Council Debt, maintain Rates at reasonable levels and help fund Infrastructure, Environmental and Community Projects.

Ratepayers' money must be utilised responsibly on well planned, prioritised projects and with full accountability.

I am a Justice of the Peace. I operate my own Financial Services business and worked for National Westminster Bank in London.

I am Chairman of Piccadilly Arcade Body Corporate, Bethlehem Branch Chairman and Deputy Electorate Chairman of a major NZ political party. I live in Bethlehem and been married for 24 years to Bernadette, from the Philippines.

For those who believe in me in this journey, I thank you sincerely.

Your choice for your voice - Stop the waste

My principal place of residence is in the Otumoetai-Pyes Pa Ward area. I am also standing for Mayor.

Actions not words

By living in this city I embrace the dream. I will work tirelessly to see our city grow by working for a strong economic base where everywhere can share in the benefits. That will mean better transport solutions, job security, housing solutions, a healthy age friendly vibrant city, and an environment where business flourishes.

To achieve this I offer sound clear decisive thinking with good business acumen and a willingness to work towards solutions for all. It is important that the rate revenue is well managed to get the best outcomes. I have and will continue to work hard on your behalf to achieve a great city.

My community involvement includes being a member on several community Trusts, chair of Tarnished Frocks and Divas. For our city make your vote count and give me your one.

Action Over Cliches

My principal place of residence is in the Te Papa-Welcome Bay Ward area.

Like you, I love my city. I'm brutally honest and not afraid to take on a challenge, or a battle. I won't make promises I don't know I can keep. My promises will come when I truly understand what's needed and what's actually possible to deliver. Over the past 40 years or so I've enjoyed successful careers in hospitality and real estate and assure you, it's not a job I need but a need I have, to do this job. I'm not going to use words like passion, integrity or commitment. To my mind those attributes should be assumed present by anyone applying to protect and grow our city's future. What I can guarantee now is that I'll listen, I'll speak up when needed and I'll serve YOU, my community, if you'll allow me to do so!

Have your say for your city

My principal place of residence is in the Te Papa-Welcome Bay Ward area.

Born and bred in Tauranga.

Lovely family- wife Judith, son and daughter-inlaw Jamie and Lauren, and daughter Frankie.

Council/community engagement and involvement is important to me.

I listen to, value and respect the community.

I embrace democracy and abhor bureaucracy.

My involvement with the Welcome Bay Underpass was challenging.

The first stage of four lanes to Cameron Rd is starting. Further stages must happen asap.

My involvement in a Welcome Bay supermarket has triggered potential development on a private site. My aim is to give any assistance needed.

Roading infrastructure, free school buses and housing is a priority with Council and Central Government.

I am concerned about the increasing population (especially the elderly).

My focus is directed on the successful management of growth and prudent planning of capital and operational expenditure.

You chose Tauranga to live, work and play. It's Council's duty to ensure it is affordable and enjoyable.

Stop the Botch Ups Put People First

As a councillor my aims and objectives would be to:
Prioritise essential infrastructure projects vs wish lists.
Reduce the use of expensive consultants by using Common Sense approach eg Greerton Village road changes and the Welcome Bay slip lane debacles.
Lobby the government for solutions for affordable rents for low-income working families.
Ensure that any council projects have sustainable outcomes eg new cycle/walkways around our bays are costly, unaffordable and possibly in 20-30 years, underwater.
Ensure that council is prudent with our rates revenue. Present rates and debt increases are unacceptable and avoidable.
Engage in valid communication with ALL parties views in any decision-making/consultation process.

My Community Involvement:
Welcome Bay Estuary Care volunteer
Waterfront predator eradication volunteer
Street Machines and Customs club member
Tarawera Trail Bike Riders committee member

Courage, compassion, connections

My principal place of residence is in the Te Papa-Welcome Bay Ward area.

Bringing groups of people together requires skill in collaboration and communication. After six years running the Welcome Bay Community Centre, especially organising events, I have honed these vital skills. I've also learned the importance and logistics of financial management, while exercising compassion, practicality and prioritisation.

The mahi (work) of the centre has given me a deep understanding of social issues and community needs, and a post-graduate diploma in Management Studies gives me a solid foundation in business administration.

Extensive travel and living abroad for many years have given me a wide range of cultural experiences. A degree in History underpins my understanding of our culture and heritage and living in a coastal region shapes my understanding of environmental issues.

Bringing community together puts fire in my belly and my passion is to see robust, resilient communities thriving.

Communication and collaboration create consensus for action, resulting in better outcomes for all.

Terry Molloy

My principal place of residence is in the Te Papa-Welcome Bay Ward area.

Married to Robyn born in Tauranga as were my children and grand children.

Am I a good politician? Probably not but I do understand our city having spent most of my life here. Farming, horticulture, property development and sport played a big part of my earlier years followed by significant contributions to our community. The most notable being chairing the Greerton redevelopment twenty years ago. A very successful project. I initiated and chaired the Battle of Gate Pa Exhibition.

Many of our problems stem from a break down in relationships we need to fix that.

As a councillor I have worked hard to support our community and small business from the negative effects of homelessness while providing for those without homes. Growth and transport are problems we can solve. Road pricing and modern technology are the answers. With our new CEO Marty Grenfell we can make our city exceptional.

Tauranga needs change

My principal place of residence is not in the Te Papa-Welcome Bay Ward area.

Tauranga is facing numerous problems surrounding infrastructure. These issues need a straightforward and common sense approach and I am a 100% committed to working on resolving these issues, rather than the hodge podge approach taken in the past.

I have lived in Tauranga for over 30 years working in the manufacturing and building industries, and have completed a NZIM Diploma in Business Management. I am skilled at finding solutions to problems and have a keen business sense.

There is a strong desire for new people to be on Council to bring in fresh ideas. Tauranga needs change.

Your community voice in action!

My principal place of residence is in the Te Papa-Welcome Bay Ward area.

You deserve a councillor prepared to listen, engage, and confidently represent your needs.

I'm a local, married with adult daughters, and we love Tauranga. I have been a small business owner for many years and have experienced roles in governance and management in the non-profit sector representing people in Tauranga.

We all want a Council working as a team with a culture you can respect, that engages with local residents and central government to find better solutions to the challenges we face.

We need better governance, better transport and housing solutions delivered with prudent financial management that provides infrastructure now and for the predicted growth of Tauranga into the future.

I value integrity, honesty, and efficiency and believe I have the skills and energy to represent our diverse community by working to take action that leads our city into a strategic and thriving future.

Tauranga is Great

My principal place of residence is in the Te Papa-Welcome Bay Ward area.

As a retired businessman in Tauranga I wish to assist Tauranga grow with sound business decisions based on common sense.

No candidate can promise to hold rates down for that is not possible in New Zealand's fastest growing city. It will be a tough ask to control the city's debt to stay within the 250% ratio of its total income. However, I will ensure expenditure is closely monitored before receiving my approval. In business one must identify the real problem, before evaluating possible solutions, and only then does one make a decision.

Since 2012 I have worked to ensure that Tauranga's historic icon, The Elms, is preserved for all New Zealanders. I oppose the concept of gifting any of the city's assets to the Otamataha Trust.

Tauranga's main problem is that everyone wants to live here.

FamilyFirst - The Children's Choice

My principal place of residence is not in the Te Papa-Welcome Bay Ward area.

My two greatest loves in this life are; my sweetheart, Shinae (wife) and my three boys.

Tauranga is the number 1 destination to raise a family! It is a place our children will forever call home; it should be built with them in mind! We need to stop hacking at the branches of our issues and strike more at the root of our concerns. I find the issues around infrastructure, gross over expenditure of rate payers' money, misrepresentation/ poor representation on council is creating concerned Grandfathers/ mothers, upset mothers and fathers and hopeless children.

Council need to focus on the family unit within a community and less on band-aid solutions for political gains to amplify personal ambition. We need fewer politicians and more mothers and fathers at the table. Focus on improving our city for the next generation; so, our current generation can find joy in the journey. #TheChildrensChoice

Waitsu Wu

Independent New Blood

My principal place of residence is in the Te Papa-Welcome Bay Ward area.

Our most urgent problem is effective traffic management and the promotion of infrastructure for the CBD. I stand for absolute transparency in all council matters. I believe that plans must be effective and all expenditure responsible.

I will work to promote a strong foundation that will support sustainable local development. I stand for the reduction, reuse and recycling of rubbish to prevent environmental damage. We need more effective long term sustainability plans to secure our future. I am skilled in business management and believe in only making decisions when all facts and details have been evaluated. I am a Taiwanese New Zealand Justice of the Peace and computer programmer. I export New Zealand-made products, have owned four souvenir shops and am significantly involved in the operation of a Kiwi farm show in Taiwan. Vote Waitsu Wu to be your representative and let's work together to make a difference.
