Political parties and candidates wishing to place election signs within Tauranga's boundaries are required to follow certain rules.

All signs placed beside state highways must follow rules set by Waka Kotahi New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA).

Election signs in other Tauranga locations
- Election signs can be located in the pre-approved sign locations set out below without seeking approval from Council. Only one election sign per candidate per designated area is permitted.
- The maximum size of a local election sign displayed at the pre-approved locations is 1.5 square metres.
- The maximum size of a general election is 3 square metres (as set out in the Electoral Act 1993)

Map 17 contains a strip of roading along Cambridge Road that is not available for Te Awanui ward by-election signage, due to road works.
