Council/Services/Apply for a service connection (SCA)

Tonoa tuihonotia tētahi hononga ratonga (SCA)

Apply for a service connection (SCA)

A service connection application, or SCA, must be completed and an approval issued for all connections to Council owned infrastructure. 

Connections that require a service connection application include:

  • Water
  • Stormwater
  • Wastewater
  • Vehicle crossings (which are non-compliant with the Infrastructure Development Code).
  • Streetlight removal or installation
  • Install backflow prevention

Connections to Council's water supply system are normally arranged through the subdivision or building consent process.

All developments where infrastructure is being vested to Council, require a Development Works Approval (DWA) prior to the commencement of construction. For further information see the Development Works Approval (DWA) webpage.

Approved Contractors

All connections to Council infrastructure, with the exception of a vehicle crossing, must be carried out by a Council approved contractor. 

The service connection approval will not be issued until an approved contractor has been nominated and the SCA team has been notified.

Confirmation of Application submission

Once your application has been properly submitted and received, you will receive a confirmation email with a copy of your application. 

If you do not immediately receive confirmation of your submission or do not receive further communications from Tauranga City Council within 5 business days following your submission, please contact us on (07) 577 7000 or sca@tauranga.govt.nz
