Opening hours: Open 8am to 8pm in summer and 8am to 6pm in winter

Latest news

Pemberton Park is undergoing improvements so more people of all ages can enjoy playing sport here, all year round.

What are the improvements?

  • New sports field lighting
  • A new field drainage system and a sports turf
  • Warm season grasses will be planted to provide a more resilient turf cover.

How long will the park be closed?
Part of the park will be closed until April 2025. You can still access the rear of the park from Yatton Street and Pemberton Crescent while the work takes place, and the new grass grows in.

The construction period will be from mid-October, with the main activity completed before Christmas, and the new turf establishing over the summer months.

Tree removal
To ensure that our new turf can grow, we will need to remove three Norfolk Island hibiscus trees (non-native) along the fence line on the Yatton Street edge of the park to allow in more sunlight. We are committed to tree canopy cover across the city, so to mitigate this we will be replanting nine native trees within the reserve, including Rimu, Taraire, Kōwhai, and Tānēkaha.
