We are doing a lot of work to build our knowledge of the natural hazards in Tauranga, and to make this data available to our community.
It’s important we build Tauranga’s resilience to natural hazards both fast (like earthquakes) and slow (like erosion).
We use natural hazard data when we plan for new developments, and informing how can we make our existing houses and infrastructure more resilient.
It’s also included in Land Information Memorandum (LIM) reports, and council consenting processes for planning, building and subdivisions.
You can use this information to understand what natural hazards affect our city, a specific area or an individual property.
