Overflow Notification

This is to notify you that a wastewater overflow has occurred at Sylvania Drive, Matua, Tauranga on 2 September 2026.

The overflow was a result of pump station blockage. This will have impacted, the Matau Salt Marsh Reserve, and the Bay Street Reserve.

Current Actions

Council staff and contractors have cleared the blockage, disinfected the area, and cleaned the stormwater cesspit.
Warning signs will be put up around access points to the Matau Salt Marsh Reserve, and the Bay Street Reserve.

Water quality sampling will be undertaken as soon a weather permits.
