With the ever-expanding population in Pāpāmoa, we’re continuing to add and upgrade amenities and environments for everyone to enjoy.

We’re upgrading the skatepark at Carlton Reserve to create an exciting, modern space for young people in Ōtūmoetai to skate, scoot, ride and connect.

We’re improving the southern part of the reserve with new native planting, two small bridges, and formalised pathways to improve year-round access.

Tree harvesting and track renewals have been mostly completed at Ōropi Grove mountain bike park. Minor track and park infrastructure works continue into 2026.

We’re working on a plan to improve playground facilities in Brookfield, by either upgrading Lees Park or creating a larger, more inclusive playground area at Sydenham Botanic Park.

We reviewed three key sporting facilities Baypark, Blake Park, and Tauranga and Wharepai Domain to improve accessibility and better meet community needs.

The spaces available at the Mercury Baypark site in Te Maunga, Mount Maunganui, have the potential to be optimised and repurposed to cater to the city's growing population.
