Parking fines

Parking fines are issued when drivers fail to pay for their parking, overstay the time limit or park in an unsafe way.

Paying with cash?

From 31 March 2025, Tauranga City Council will no longer accept cash as a form of payment. Come see our friendly staff at your local Library Community Hub and they can help you set up a different payment method.

For more information visit  www.tauranga.govt.nz/cashless.

Tickets can also be issued for vehicles with out-of-date or missing warrant of fitness or licence (rego).

Please read the summary of rights on the back of the ticket. If you wish to dispute the ticket, you will need to write to Council or fill out our online form (below) within the timeframe given in the summary of rights. Please include the infringement number noted on the ticket.

Payment plans

Some conditions apply, and only one payment plan agreement is allowed per customer. You can enter into an agreement with Council by completing a Traffic Agreement Application. This can be requested by contacting the parking team via the following link https://www.tauranga.govt.nz/contactparking or by going into one of our libraries.

Disputing an Infringement

Disputes are considered on a case-by-case basis. We often conduct further investigations using Council systems to confirm the circumstances surrounding an infringement notice. To remain fair and consistent, we may also request proof or supporting evidence related to your dispute.
