Excavation of the rain gardens by the parking building began last week.
The rain gardens by the parking building will be installed on Sunday night which means Durham Street will be closed from 7pm on 5 May. Access to the carpark building will be maintained under traffic control.
The last two concrete panels on the west side of the roadway have been poured, the rain gardens by the parking building have been installed and the footpath concrete on the west to the Durham Lane access side has been poured all this past week.
We made good progress last week with four concrete pours in the car parking area and installation of the garden beds beside the parking building.
Tauranga City Council understands that the disruptions caused by the Durham Street Upgrade project is having an effect on some businesses. Council would like to offer directly impacted businesses the opportunity to apply for rates relief.
